The Government has given Clare County Council and other local authorities four weeks to count the exact cost of the recent storm damage which devastated much of the western seaboard.
The Cabinet is then expected to announce what repairs are affordable – and when, but no emergency funding is being released now.
Ministers discussed an interim report into the recent severe weather and storm damage when they met last evening.
This included an estimation of costs in the worst hit counties, most notably Clare which has submitted the largest bill at almost €24m.
However, local authorities are now being asked to provide a more detailed cost estimation on the damage, within the next three to four weeks.
The coalition insists it is aware of the urgency of the situation, but has opted not to release any emergency funding at this point.
The insurance industry has also been told it needs to engage with clients on the private element of damage caused to homes and businesses, likely to be worth millions more in Clare alone.
