It’s unclear whether a new road from Ennis to Ennistymon will ever happen, and the Clare County Manager says he doesn’t have an answer.

The Council was asked this week whether the re-allignment if the N85 would ever go ahead, years after plans for a new route were first put forward.
But although County Manager Tom Coughlan informed Ennis West Councillor James Breen that he couldn’t say for sure, the meeting was informed that nothing has changed regarding the re-alignment plans.
The Kilnamona representative says inaction on the plan has forced local people along the route to buy sites and build homes elsewhere.
