The Education Minister has annouced three schools in Tramore Trim and Malahide will become multi-denominational from September, a move that Ruairi Quinn says brings the educational system in line with reality.
However, there is to be no change in the Shannon and Newmarket-on-Fergus areas where parents had been polled on patronage, and over 200 said they would like choice.
There are nine primary schools in the area, all run by the Catholic Church or Church of Ireland.
