A major event in the Clare agricultural calendar which was due to take place this weekend has been cancelled.

The Newmarket-on-Fergus Agricultural Show was supposed to go ahead this coming Sunday but has been called off due to the condition of the show arena.

It’s understood the venue, which is located on the Dromoland Estate outside Newmarket village, has become waterlogged due to excessive rain this week.
