It’s claimed a newly approved 30-metre telecommunications tower will significantly improve coverage in East Clare.
Vantage Towers LTD has been given the green light to build a new structure in Scariff.
Created by the Vodafone Group in 2020, Vantage Towers LTD owns and operates 82,000 towers across ten countries, including 1300 in Ireland.
Their latest development however is very close to home, with the company getting permission to replace a now “inadequate” 30m tower with a new structure off the R352 at Drewsborough in Scariff.
It a letter to Clare County Council on behalf of the applicant, Charterhouse Infrastructure Consultants says the level of 5G coverage currently available in the area is between “none and fringe”.
It adds that the infrastructure is crucial to rectifying this and improving coverage in the area.
Letters of support were also sent to the local authority from Vodafone and Eir Mobile.
Clare County Council granted permission subject to five conditions.
