A Clare Special Needs Assistant expects a newly-introduced scheme to provide certainty to workers and students alike.
Education Minister Helen McEntee has announced that as of September of this year, SNAs will be redeployed to schools where vacancies exist instead of being made redundant in the event that the number of roles allocated to their school changes.

The Fórsa union has described the initiative as “seismic” for the 23,000 SNAs working at national and secondary schools nationwide.
Tubber native Liz O’Donoghue says it’s reassuring for SNAs who’ve had to fear for their jobs up until now.
