New plan for Shannon estuary revealed

A major new plan to develop port facilities along the Shannon estuary could potentially create thousands of jobs for the mid-west.

That’s according to The Shannon Foynes Port Company which has launched a blueprint charting the development of Foynes port and Limerick docks over the next 30 years.

The company says new infrastructural developments and greater marketing of the area will allow them to take complete commercial advantage of the estuary’s natural deepwater which can accomodate some of the larget container ships in Europe.
