New MidWest Alternative Ambulance Pathway Has Seen 50% Of Patients Treated Outside Of Hospital In First Four Weeks

Patients in Clare and across the MidWest are being encouraged to avail of a new community care initiative.

The Alternative Pre Hospital Pathway sees specialist emergency medicine doctors and paramedics respond to low-acuity calls within a forty-five minute radius of University Hospital Limerick’s ambulance dispatch centre.

A total of 65 patients have used the service in its first four weeks and so far 50% have been discharged at the scene.
