The new Mayor of Ennis has expressed his wish that problems in the Cloughleigh Housing estate will be alleviated in his year in office.
Independent Councillor Frankie Neylon was elected Chairperson of Ennis Town Council in a unanimous decision last evening with Independent Councillor Michael Guilfoyle beating off competition from Fine Gael’s Mary Howard for the position of Deputy Mayor.
Commenting on the ongoing feuding problem in Cloughleigh, Councillor Neylon announced plans for a public meeting with Gardaí and said he would not tolerate or recognise a "culture of hand grenades, cocaine or huge amounts of money".
Meanwhile Kilrush Town Council saw a Fine Gael duo elected to the top positions at their AGM last evening, with Councillor Marian McMahon Jones becoming Mayor and Councillor Liam Williams her deputy.
The new Mayor of Kilrush said the changed political line up would change the way things are done in the town for the better
Meanwhile Independent Councillor Lily Marrinan Sullivan became the new Mayor of Kilkee, at the annual general meeting of Kilkee Town Council last night, with Fine Gael’s Brian Keane appointed as the deputy Mayor.
And in Shannon it was also a case of Fine Gael taking control with Councillor Sean McLoughlin elected the Meara Baile and new Fine Gael Councillor Mary Brennan his leas mheara.
Councillor McLoughlin said that the new Council line-up would have to work together for the good of the town like previous councils in Shannon
