Reports today suggest a new look Junior Cert could be on the cards as soon as next year.
According to the Irish Times, a confidential briefing document prepared for the Education Minister proposes a new system to switch the focus away from written exams.
Instead, the curriculum would include more portfolio-type work within the school year.
It would also see the number of subjects a students can take limited to 8.
