New Killaloe MD Chair Calls On Finance Minister To Stump Up Money For Shannon Heritage Site Transfer

The new chair of the Killaloe Municipal District is calling on the Minister for Finance to urgently stump up the funding to transfer Shannon Heritage’s sites to the local authority.

Kilmurry McMahon-based Fianna Fail Councillor Alan O’ Callaghan has been elected to the role for the next 12 months, replacing outgoing Bodyke-based Fine Gael Councillor Joe Cooney.

Negotiations between the local authority, the Government and Shannon Group continue, with the Council looking for 15 million euro over three years to bring the sites into its tourism portfolio.

Councillor Alan O’ Callaghan says this needs to be done before the sites fall into further disrepair.
