New Irish Language Centre On The Horizon For Ennis

A new Irish Language Centre is on the horizon for Ennis as part of a billion euro Government investment in culture, heritage and the Irish language.

As part of the Project Ireland 2040 plan, theatres, museums and arts centres around the country will receive a funding boost, with 178 million will going towards the Gaelteacht, the Irish Language and the islands.

1.5 million euro of the fund has been ring-fenced for the development of culture hubs in the the country’s three Líonrá Gaeilge, or Irish Language Network Communities, which could mean a half a million euro boost for Ennis.

No time frame has yet been announced, but Donal Ó Lionsigh of An Clár as Gaeilge says such a development would be significant.
