New Illegal Encampment In Ennis Sparks Calls For Emergency Helpline

A call has been made for a crisis helpline to be established to prevent illegal encampments following a new incident in Ennis.

Councillor Clare Colleran Molloy says a household pulled its caravan on to the green area in the Clancy Park Housing Estate last Tuesday and has remained in situ since, despite being issued with notices by Clare County Council under both the roads and housing acts.

The local authority had been requested to erect concrete bollards on the green after receiving a tip-off the previous day, but it’s understood there was reluctance as a Garda presence was required.
