Clare Samaritans volunteers are hopeful the national roll-out of a freephone number for their service will see more people reach out.

From today, Samaritans can be reached free of charge on 116 123, under a European Commission plan to promote social value services.
The new number was trialled in a number of areas, including Clare, and local volunteer Kevin Phelan is hopeful the initiative will be a success.
