Motorists are being warned that the new drink driving limits come into effect from midnight tonight.

The limit has been reduced as traffic volumes are expected to increase during the coming days over the Halloween Bank Holiday weekend.
The limit has been reduced to 50 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of blood.
That’s estimated to be just over half a pint of beer.
Learner drivers and professional drivers will have an even lower limit of just 20 milligrammes.
There’ll be a graduated penalty point system for anyone caught driving under the influence.
For example anyone found with alcohol levels between new limit of 50 milligrammes and the old limit of 80 milligrammes will be given three penalty points and a fine, rather than a ban.
