Clare’s most disadvantaged schools are set to receive targeted supports under an enhanced version of the DEIS scheme.
Education Minister Helen McEntee has confirmed that details of ‘Deis Plus’ will be rolled out this week and will have a particular emphasis on tackling high levels of absenteeism and improving literacy and numeracy.

The new programme is also expected to make therapeutic and counselling services more accessible.
Clare Irish National Teacher’s Organisation Representative Brendan Horan says increased resources are required.
