New date fixed for Deely Trial

North Clare man Colm Deely, who’s charged with murdering Deirdre McCarthy, is set to go on trial this June.

A re fixed date for the case was set at the Central Criminal Court today after the matter was adjourned in Galway last month.

40 year Colm Deely of School Road, Ballyvaughan is charged with murdering guest house worker Deirdre McCarthy at a place unknown in Co Clare on or about March 28, 2011.

The 43 year old’s body was found washed up on the shore at Fanore Beach following an extensive three day search by Gardaí, members of civil defence and locals.

The case against the father of two was originally listed to proceed before Central Criminal Court which was sitting in Galway last month – but subsequently adjourned.

A new trial date has now been set for Tuesday 4th of June.
