Clare County Council is hopeful that a major new cycling route will benefit communities along its path.
The Minister for Transport has announced 182,000 euro in funding to support the implementation of the EuroVelo 1 route in Clare.

The 317km route, which runs along much of the county’s coast, forms part of a larger, multi-national network of 17 long-distance cycling routes that stretches from Norway to Portugal.
Senior Executive Engineer with the Transportation Department, John Gannon, says that the route will lead to more local spending across Clare.
