The new Mayor of Clare is accusing the Transport Minister of ‘political interference’ on the progress of the Limerick Northern Distributor Road.
The second phase of the project was excluded from the Limerick Shannon Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy back in April, much to the dismay of elected representatives here.
Construction of its first phase from Coonagh to Knockalisheen is already well underway, though it’s believed the second part of the road was halted ‘by ministerial order’ from Eamon Ryan.
Incoming Clare Mayor and Killaloe Fianna Fail Councillor Tony O’ Brien says it will be top of his priority list to get the project back on track during his term in office.
