Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke has been elected as the Cathaoirleach of the Killaloe Municipal District.
The Whitegate representative was elected into the role last evening by his fellow East Clare Councillors, following his re-election last month.

Meanwhile, Cooraclare Fianna Fáil Councillor Bill Chambers has been elected as Chair of the West Clare Municipal District, which includes Councillors from the Kilrush and Ennistymon Electoral Areas.
He insists that group of nine will work together over the year to come.
