The Department of Transport says Aaron Forde “has a track record at a senior level with international leadership experience gained across Ireland and the UK.”

With a strong background in the food and agri industries, was Chief Executive of the Aurivo Co-Operative for 16 years until he left the Company at the end of 2019.

In that time he helped it to evolve from a largely domestic co-operative to one which exports to almost 50 countries.

He has also spent sixteen years with Ornua, formerly known as the Irish Dairy Board, including six as its Chairman.  He has served with other groups including IBEC, Bord Iascaigh Mhara and the Sligo Economic Forum.

Transport Minister Eamon Ryan has welcomed the appointment, saying Aaron Forde will bring the right mix of skills to the role.

In a statement from Shannon Group, Mr. Forde says he’s excited to offer his experience to the company, and that he looks forward to working with all to chart its recovery from COVID-19.
