New Cathaoirleach Elected For North West Clare

The new Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District has highlighted the immediate need for a focus on supporting local businesses as they re-open.

Joe Garrihy has this week been unanimously elected to the role, taking over from Fianna Fáil’s Bill Chambers, with Cillian Murphy serving as Leas Cathaoirleach.

The Fine Gael Councillor says the area, which is heavily dependent on tourism, faces unique challenges in light of the current pandemic, but he believes local communities are well placed to cope with the fallout.
