It comes following strong car sales in July, the first month of the new 162 plates.
The number of new cars sold in Clare jumped 13% last month, up to 571.
This growth was stronger than the national average, and made July the second busiest month of the year to date, trailing only January.
This suggests that the split plate concept, which was introduced in 2013, has now really taken hold with consumers.
The statistics also mean that the total number of cars sold here this year is approaching 2,900, and is already more than 200 more than in all of 2015.
Nationally, Hyundai is the most popular marque.
