The number of new cars registered in Clare jumped by 6% last year.
New figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show 2,115 new cars were registered in this county in 2021, compared to just over 1,980 over the previous 12 months.
The figure remains lower than pre-pandemic figures in 2019, however, when 2,245 new car reigstrations were recorded in the banner.
Nationally, new car sales were up by 19% but the Director General of SIMI says difficulties arising from both COVID and Brexit impacted on the supply and demand for cars, making 2021 another challenging year for the Motor Industry.
Brian Cooke says the industry is hopeful of further improvements in business levels this year.
