A new Bishop has been chosen for the Diocese of Galway, Kilmacduagh and Kilfenora.

Pope Francis has today announced the appointment of the Most Reverend Brendan Kelly to the diocese, which has been left without a Bishop since Martin Drennan retired in July last year.

Bishop Brendan was appointed Parish Priest of Lisdoonvarna in the late nineties and subsequently An Spidéal in Galway, before being named Bishop of Aconry in 2007.
