Clare’s Green Party Senator believes a new law which will force larger companies to publish details of employees salaries is the first step towards eradicating the gender pay gap.
The Gender Pay Gap Information Bill passed all stages of the Dáil and Seanad last night and will legally require all companies with more than 250 employees to report on the pay differences between female and male employees, including any bonuses.
The legislation will now be sent to the President for consideration and it’s planned the law will be extended to companies with over 50 employees in time.
