It’s estimated that the number of diabetes cases in Ireland will reach almost a quarter of a million by 2020.
Today is World Diabetes Day and a new campaign is being launched to raise awareness of the condition which it’s thought currently affects one in three families.
Low blood sugar levels can manifest as a lack of energy or concentration, a headache, tremors and while the disease can be managed it can also lead to complications including blindness, kidney problems and limb amputations.
