The numbers from the Central Statistics Office show 180 people came of the register here during the month of March

The number of people on the Live Register in Clare has fallen for a second month in a row.

There was a fall in all areas of the county, with the biggest percentage drop in North Clare, 8.4% down between the end of February and the last day of March.

Ennistymon Councillor and Chair of the Economic Development and Enterprise SPC Richard Nagle  is confident of a further employment boost during the coming tourist season.

In Ennis, 81 fewer people were signing on, with 20 less in West Clare

East Clare saw the smallest drop with 16 people leaving the dole queues there in March.

Independent Councillor Michael Begley says the East of the county has suffered particularly badly from a lack of a big employer in the area.
