Nearly €830,000 In Funding Announced For Clare Marine Infrastructure

Nearly €830,000 in funding has been announced for marine infrastructure in Clare.

More than half of the money set aside by the Government is to go towards Cappagh Pier in Kilrush.

The funding has been issued by Minister Charlie McConalogue as part of the Brexit Adjustment Local Authority Marine Infrastructure Scheme 2022-2023 and will target eight projects around the county.

Nearly half a million euro will go towards the provision of a new access pontoon at Cappagh Pier in Kilrush.

The same facility is receiving a further €59,000 to repair its pier and to replace its mooring rings and bollards.

Liscannor Pier’s to receive €62,000 to provide a crane there, while Labasheeda Quay has been allocated a similar amount for safety improvement works.

Phase three of Doonmore Pier’s extension’s been granted nearly €58,000, with €40,000 earmarked for Knock Pier.

Shannon Estuary Visitor Mooring Buoy’s upgrade is to receive over €30,000, while surface upgrade works to Kildysart Pier will be funded to the tune of more than €23,000.
