The Minister of State for Mental Health insists significant progress has been made in addressing vacancies in the CAMHS service in the MidWest.
As of October, there were 398 children and teenagers across Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary waiting for an initial assessment with the mental health service – an 11% increase on the same time last year.
Currently, the MidWest region’s waiting list makes up 10% of the number of children nationally who are still waiting to be seen.
Minister Mary Butler says the development of a seventh team in the region will lead to a more timely response to referrals.
