Nearly 300 Clare farmers are still waiting for payment under the GLAS Agri-Environment scheme.

Figures released to the Dáil by Minister Michael Creed shows there are over 2,300 farmers here taking part in GLAS 1 or 2, with over 1,600 of those on the first scheme.

However, nearly 200 of those have yet to receive money while 89 more who are in GLAS 2 are still awaiting payment.

The figures reflect the position at close of business last Wednesday,, and show over 6,500 farmers nationally awaiting money.

Farmers’ representative groups including the ICSA have highlighted the issue in recent weeks.
