January saw near-record rainfall in Clare, but conditions here were drier than in most other parts of the country.

Met Eireann has revealed that it recorded 23 millimetres of rain at Shannon Airport on the 26th of last month, making it the wettest January day there in 11 years.
However, across the month, forecasters say there were fewer very wet or dull days in Shannon than at other weather monitoring stations.
Average temperatures across the month were also nearly one full degree than is typically the case.
