There’s been a near 70% drop in the number of house sales in Clare this August compared to last.
It comes as the average house price recorded in the banner this August was over €240,000.
A total of 60 properties were sold in Clare this August, a drop of over 68% on the 123 houses that were purchased in the same month last year.
The number of first-time buyers in the banner has reduced by two thirds in the same period from 28 last August to 14 this year.
The drop in sales coincides with a rise in house prices.
The average price paid for a home in this county has risen by 21% from almost €194,000 in 2021 to over €241,000 this August.
Of the 60 property transactions this August, 4 were new homes and 56 were existing houses.
This trend is similar to what was recorded last year, with 5 new homes sold and 118 exising properties purchased.
The dip in sales this August is a near 60% drop on the number of property sales in July, when 111 houses traded hands.
