National Public Health Emergency Team To Meet In Relation To CPE Superbug

A meeting of the national public health emergency team tasked with overseeing the response to the CPE Superbug has been described as “crucial” locally.

HIQA has warned that many deficits identified at University Hospital Limerick, linked with outbreaks of the bug, are also present across the rest of country’s hospital system.

Earlier this week, the UL Hospitals Group defended its infection and prevention control measures, saying it’s investigating 74 deaths, after a whistleblower claimed that concerns raised about up to 30 deaths hadn’t been responded to.
