Multi-million Euro Development Unveiled For Former Our Lady’s Hospital Site

Plans have been unveiled for a multi-million euro development at the former Our Lady’s Hospital site in Ennis.

The project, known as Páirc Mhuire, is expected to transform the historic site into a major mixed-use community development with homes, commercial space, and public amenities.

The design phase is now nearing completion, with a Large-Scale Residential Development application due to be submitted shortly to Clare County Council.

The development has been described as the largest adaptive re-use project of its kind in Ireland to date.

Plans include more than 160 new homes across a mix of existing and newly constructed buildings.

Over 20-thousand square feet of commercial space is also proposed, including local amenities and a crèche facility.

The existing church on the site will be converted into a dedicated community building, while landscaping works will include a sensory playground area.

Developers Walsh & Sheehan Investments Group
say historic façades and key architectural features of the former hospital buildings will be preserved as part of the project.

The overall development cost is estimated at between 35 and 40 million euro, with the project promising to support job creation and increased economic activity in the wider Ennis area.
