A multi-million euro funding boost for Caherlohan has been hailed as transformative for all sectors of the county.
It follows a confirmed allocation of €3.2m towards the revamp of Clare GAA’s Centre of Excellence, which will allow for the development of two playing pitches, 12 floodlights, a new gym and a 1,350 capacity spectator stand.
It comes just over a month after the same project received a grant of over €478,000 for a new all-weather pitch under the Sports Capital Programme, and its now estimated up to a further €1.5m will be needed to complete the redevelopment.
Clare GAA Chief Operating Officer Deirdre Murphy has been telling Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan the state of-the-art facility will be open to all community groups when it comes to fruition and that it wouldn’t be possible without today’s investment.
