The Man Up campaign, supported by Clare Haven Services, is encouraging men to speak out against violence which saw over 500 Clare women and children reach out for supports last year.

Meanwhile, Shannon Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy has said the government will introduce new laws in this area before the end of the year.

He previously called his own father a "thug" and "bully" when telling an Oireachtas Committee of how he had experienced domestic violence when younger, but now hopes that the tide is turning.
