Mulcahy Concern At Potential Rise In Broadband Charges

A Clare Senator has expressed concern that the county's rural residents could soon have to pay more for their broadband services.

Comreg has said people living in rural areas are not paying the full cost of broadband provision, in light of a report which has outlined how their bills are being subsidised by those in urban areas.

Shannon Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy is now concerned that Eircom will apply for permission to recover rural costs, and is contacting Comreg and the Communications Minister Alex White in a bid to ensure this won't happen.
