The letters – issued by local authorities – are warning householders that they face penalties if they don’t pay up.
So far, almost 960-thousand home-owners have paid the 100 euro tax – out of a possible 1.6 million who are liable for the charge.
Chairperson of the Household Charge Project Board Jackie Maguire says the data on who has yet to pay, has been obtained from a number of sources.
