A motorist in Clare is among 760 nationwide to be detected speeding in the first day of the Gardaí’s Bank Holiday Roads Policing Operation.
A driver was clocked travelling at 90km/h in a 50km/h zone at Mahonburg on the R474 in Kilmaley.

The motorist will be issued with three penalty points and a €160 fine.
Nationally, 20 people have already been arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant, while 90 people have been penalised for driving while using a mobile phone.
