A motorist in Clare has recorded one of the highest speed detections in the country over national slow down day.
For the last 24 hours, Gardaí have been conducting a national operation aimed at increasing compliance with speed limits and reminding drivers of the dangers of speeding.

Among the highest detections was a motorist travelling at 141 km/h in 100 zone on the N67 in Galway , while in Clare a vehicle was clocked at 129km/h in a 100 zone on the N18 in Bunratty.
Over 671 vehicles have been detected since the operation began and all motorists concerned will receive 3 penalty points and a €160 fine.
