It comes as trained members of the public have been given permission to administer drenaline epipens to treat people suffering severe allergic reactions, under new laws signed by Minister for Health Leo Varadkar.

Emma Sloan suffered a fatal reaction to peanuts in a sauce at a Dublin restaurant in December 2013 as she wasn't carrying an epipen.

Speaking publically for the first time since the new laws were announced, her mother Caroline told Clare FM's Morning Focus that people need to be informed of the dangers of allergies.
