Eight outdoor recreation projects in Clare have been given a funding boost of more than 300,000 euro.
It’s part of a 8.7 million euro Government investment announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary today, under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme.
50,000 euro has been allocated for planning of a canoe trail, slalom course and whitewater rafting centre on the river Scariff, while an additional 49,500 euro will go towards a Feasibility Study for a Riverside Walk connecting Westbury & Shannon Banks to Parteen Village.
40,000 euro has been granted for four projects, namely the development of a recreational trail in Fanore, maintenance, repairs and arborist works along the Glen Walk and for enhancements on Newmarket-on-Fergus long and short sweep walking routes and the Liscannor Coastal Loop Trail.
Just over 19,000 has been allocated towards improvements at O’Briens Bridge River Walk, and Clare Local Development Company will receive just under 40,000 towards the development of a combined app and website to promote outdoor activities, showcasing trails and recreation sites.
