More than one in 10 incidents responded to by Clare County Fire and Rescue Service last year were false alarms.
New Government figures show call-outs have risen by almost 60% since 2021.
Clare County Fire and Rescue Service recorded 1,532 turnouts in 2025.
This was 5% more than last year and a stagerring 60% up on the figure for 2021.
Of the incidents responded to by the service, 62% were classed as ‘special incidents’ such as road traffic collisions, rescuing trapped people or animals, or managing chemical spills.
22% were fire incidents and 16% were false alarms.
Ennis Fire Station accounted for one third of turnouts, with Shannon, Ennistymon and Kilrush the next busiest stations.
Clare County Fire and Rescue Service responded to a total of 343 fire incidents in 2025 – up 18% on the previous year.
