Deputy Eamon O'Cuiv, who's the grandson of the party's founding father Eamon De Valera, has told the Sunday Independent that there's an 'absolute collapse in self-belief' within the party.

Previous reports suggest Fianna Fail leader Michael Martin faces a heave if they do not perform well in the upcoming Carlow/Kilkenny by-election.

Mr O'Cuiv's told the paper that the party needs to urgently improve its standing with the public.
