More Overcrowding At UHL Last Month

The number of people on trolleys at University Hospital Limerick last month virtually doubled when compared with October 2013.

Statistics compiled by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show 484 people were admitted to hospital from having waited on trolleys or in overflow areas of the Dooradoyle facility.

The figure for October 2013 was 244.

Across the country, almost 7,000 people found themselves on hospital trolleys, in emergency departments and wards, during the month.
