Moneypoint Slashes Emissions By 24% With Move Away From Coal

Moneypoint slashed its emissions by 24% last year.

It comes as the Kilrush facility has commenced the process of converting from a coal fired to a heavy-fuel oil plant.

Moneypoint is due to operate as a back-up electricity supplier to the national grid until 2029, before its transition to a green renewable energy hub thereafter.

Futureproof Clare Spokesperson Dr Sinéad Sheehan says the emissions cuts are hugely beneficial for the locality.
