Over 150 farmers are to receive an average of around €6,300, as the government confirms that payments have begun for a key agricultural scheme for North Clare.

The Burren Farming for Conservation Programme puts an emphasis on protecting the environment in the ecologically sensitive area.
It's led to the repair of 67 kilometres of stone walls, as well as the re-opening of nearly 100 kilometres of paths and the protection of hundreds of water supplies.
Now in its fourth year, farmers in the area have shared a total of 3.8 million euro.
