An Ennis Councillor is seeking clarity from the local authority after being told no prosecutions can take place over a recent case of illegal dumping.

The dumping in question occurred in the Rocky Road area close to the Kilrush exit of the by-pass, near to where there had been a traveller encampment, and resulted in a comprehensive cleaning operation by the Council.

As part of this, the local authority sifted through the rubbish for evidence on who was responsible but it has now admitted to local representatives that none has been found, and it will not be possible to take legal action.
