Mixed Views In Clare On Irish As School Subject

Foreign-born students in Ireland may be forced to take on Irish as a compulsory subject in school.

It’s reportedly being considered as part of measures by the Department of Education to try to cut down on the number of pupils dropping it in the run-up to exams.

Figures published by the Irish Times this week show that up to 2,000 pupils have received an exemption from Irish in recent years.
